ALMOST 200 overstaying Filipinos in Saudi Arabia (KSA) are still at the Hajj Seaport Terminal, a facility that is used as a holding area for the repatriation of overstaying Filipinos.

This was reported by the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Some 972 Filipinos out of the 1,160 staying at the Consulate-operated Hajj Terminal facility since January 24 have already been sent home, Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Ezzedin Tago said in a report.

"They are brought to and are sheltered at the Hajj Terminal, while awaiting the provision of their ticket and the processing of their exit papers," said Tago.

The use of the facilities at the Hajj Terminal is paid by the Consulate at 15 Saudi Riyals a day per person, who were found to have gone beyond the authorized period of stay in KSA.

And as part of the latest batch of overstaying Filipinos to be repatriated, Tago related that some 217 Filipino overstayers are set to arrive in Manila this week in batches after being cleared for repatriation by the Jawazat (Saudi Directorate General for Passports).

"This latest batch of Filipino repatriates from Saudi Arabia consists of 73 males, 100 females, and 44 children," noted Tago.

Some 57 males are expected to arrive Monday afternoon, while around 125 Filipinos will arrive on Tuesday in two batches, with the first batch of six Filipinos arriving in the afternoon while around 119 Filipinos (79 females and 40 children) will arrive in the evening.

DFA records show that there are over one million Filipinos that are residing and working in the KSA.
