LAS VEGAS – Freddie Roach watched from the corner as Manny Pacquiao wrapped up his final day of training at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. Roach held on to a tall paper cup of Starbucks. It was coffee time. “I have no worries about the fight. I have no worries about Manny,” said the chief trainer of arguably the greatest fighter to come out after Muhammad Ali. Pacquiao faces Timothy Bradley, an undefeated American, on Saturday at the MGM Grand, and according to Roach there’s no stopping them. “He’s in great shape. He’s ready to go. We’re ready for whatever Bradley has to bring,” he said after the workout highlighted with four rounds of sparring. Roach sent a message across to the Bradley camp. “Be careful. Manny Pacquiao is ready to go,” he said, and when pressed to elaborate added that he sees Pacquiao scoring his first knockout in five fights. Pacquiao had gone the distance in each of his last four fights, including those against Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez who just wouldn’t go. Here comes Bradley, who’s always moving in, head first. And unless he changes his style, Bradley will walk straight into Pacquiao’s left straight. “The advantage we have is that his opponent won’t stop coming. He’s going to try and try and try. I feel we’re going to knock him out somewhere along the way,” Roach said. But it’s not a must for Pacquiao to score a knockout, and Roach said he wouldn’t be totally disappointed if the fight lasts the distance. As long as it’s a good fight, Roach said he’d be happy. “We don’t have to have a knockout to please everybody else,” said Roach. “Obviously I like knockouts but the thing is if he fights a good fight even if for 12 rounds I’d be more than happy. That’s all we need,” he told scribes. However, he guaranteed that it’s not going to be close if the fight goes to the scorecards. “I just don’t see that happening. Manny’s going to win every round one at a time,” he said. - Source: By Abac Cordero (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)
