Former poll commissioner Virgilio Garcillano was a liar then and now.
This was how presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda described Garcillano, who earlier maintained he never conspired to cheat in the 2004 elections.
"Garci is a liar then, he is a liar now!" Lacierda said on his Twitter account Saturday afternoon.
Earlier Saturday, Garcillano told a press conference in Bukidnon he never had a conversation with then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to rig the 2004 polls in her favor.
Garcillano also said he is not inclined to take part in the investigation of the 2004 poll fraud by the Commission on Elections and Department of Justice.
Lacierda maintained Garcillano sent feelers to the office of presidential political affairs adviser Ronald Llamas.
"I confirmed with Sec. Ronald Llamas, it was Garci who sent feelers to his office. From Zaldy to Bedol to Santiago, they were never solicited," he said.
Lacierda also said the Palace never sought Garcillano or other witnesses who claimed fraud in the 2004 elections such as former Maguindanao election supervisor Lintang Bedol and former Senior Superintendent Rafael Santiago.
Lacierda was a co-convenor of the Black and White Movement, a “civil society" group formed in the wake of the “Hello Garci" scandal in 2005. — JE, GMA News
