MANILA, Philippines— The Reproductive Health (RH) Bill will not be in the line-up of topics to be discussed when the House of Representatives resumes its sessions on Monday after over a month-long adjournment, Radyo Inquirer reported Thursday.

In fact, the controversial RH Bill is slotted at number 96 out of the 106 topics scheduled for deliberation beginning Monday, May 9, Representative Roilo Golez was quoted as saying, indicating just how low the RH bill rated in terms of priorities with regards to the country’s current legislative agenda.

The RH bill will provide government funding and impetus for the universal distribution and access to family planning methods, as well as information on birth control and maternal care to all Filipino citizens.

Deputy speaker Eddy Tañada was also quoted as saying that House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte had instructed them not to tackle any controversial bills such as the on its first day.

Meanwhile, more solons were expected to be absent on Monday because of the inevitable ‘hang-over’ from watching Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Shane Mostley on Saturday, May 8.
